Rest In Peace Mate

WONP S R Lyall

Sid passed awayjust before Xmas 2004.

He is survived by his second wife Hilda and his daughters Sue, Julie and their families. Sid has for very many years held various positions of office at the Mortdale (NSW) RSL and has contributed a great deal to the welfare of members. Sid joined the RAN at the end of WW2 and served as a steward (CPO) until transferring to the NDP/Naval Police in the 1950's. He retired as a WONP in the late 1970's (could have been early 1980's). Sid always had a colourful story to tell and 'knew' everybody. He will be missed by a lot of people.

 May he rest in peace.

Don Copp

(Extract from Guestbook entry by 'Dutchy Andrews)

It is with a sad heart that I report the passing of one of our old bosses, namely Commander Donald 'Don' COPP, MBE. Don crossed the bar on the 22nd July, 2005 at Mornington, Victoria, the place where he retired after leaving the Naval Police.
Don was 84 years of age and is survived by his wife Barbara, his son Robert, daughters Gail & Julie and seven grand children.
I last saw Don when I called around to his home in 1979 to invite him to a reunion in Melbourne. He had already retired by the time I got to Melbourne. Vale Don and keep the lamplight burning.

 May he rest in peace.

'Tassie' Coleman

(Email sent to me by Rod Cleary)

Tassie was a docky cop from 1969 to 1977 served in the Sydney area mostly at outstations Randwick Naval Stores, Leichhardt, RANRL, RAN TAU when they were at Rushcutter & of course REVY at Pyrmont. Tassie died in late 2003 but I have not long ago heard about it. I have been working on a report for his wife who is trying to get a DVA widows pension as Tassie was a cook on the Melbourne when she hit the Voyager then served for 2 years on the Sydney doing the Vung Tau runs. Regards Rod

 May he rest in peace.

Sen.Sgt W.L.Popplewell

was the Ist OIC Naval Police Investigations section. He was a pioneer of the the NAval Police Investigation Section and a "real' detective in the true sense

 May he rest in peace.

Inspector Graham Mayes.

This message was taken from the guestbook and the kind words had been written by John Miscamble

Graham and I entered the Naval Police in January 1975 and were in regular contact with each other until I paid off in 1983. We did the NSW Fire Brigade Course in 1979 and Graham went on to be commisioned. Never was there a more suitable person for a commission, he was an all round "good hand". "Barney Rubble" as I used to call him, remember the resemblance; he used to scoff but underneath he liked it,we also pursued another way of life, we entered Freemasonry together though the same Lodge and worked our way up through the Craft together. I make no secret of this and if anyone wants to scoff or make an idiot comment then get stuffed. Graham was a man that I was proud to know, I wish his family all the best and I drink to his memory.

 May he rest in peace.

Henry William 'Hank' MILLARD

CPONPC crossed the bar on Friday 15th December, 2006 and was laid to rest on the 22nd December, 2006. Hank had a great send off with almost 250 present at St.Luke's church in Frankston. Hank was 61 and had been involved with Department of Defence DSO Frankston for many years. He passed away from cancer of the throat.

May he rest in peace.
